The two exhibitions Ancient times in Falbygden and Another thousand years makes it possible to experience the history of the area in words, sounds and images. The exhibition features unique ancient objekts such as the skeleton of a 9000 year old dog, a Stone Age flute and a copy of the mighty gold collar from Ålleberg. The Raspberry Girl is also exhibited here, a rare example of a neolithic body found in a bog. There is also a reconstruction of here face.

We are located in the middle of Falköping, along S:t Olofsgatan close to a park. adress: S:t Olofsgatan 23A, 521 43 Falköping.

By car

You find a parkingplace on the opposite side of the street S:t Olofsgatan.

By public transport

Travel by train to Falköping railway station, then continue by foot along the street Järnvägsgatan to the south, passing the hotel Rantens hotel. At the roundabout, turn to the left and continue aganinst the street S:t Olofsgatan for about 10 minutes. You will find the museum on the right side of the street.

Visit the landscape of Falbygden

Falbygden, the fertile tableland around Falköping , is a varied landscape with many moors and unique table mountains. Few landscapes are as strongly characterised by the past as Falbygden. Here you find approximately 260 passage graves, 2/3 of the total amount in Sweden.

The passage graves can be found in the middle of Falköping town and in the sourrounded countryside. This is unique in Sweden. The Stone Age community belonged to the so called funnel beaker Culture and was part of a much larger community in ancient Europe.

The most important megalithic monuments are presented along various turist routes. A unique hiking tour runs through the town, passing megalithic tombs and other graves from different prehistoric periods. (that are still present in the central part of Falköping.) Worth an extra trip are the passage tombs in Karleby, Vårkumla, Luttra and – not to be forgotten – Ekornavallen. Ekornavallen is a unique prehistoric site with graves from the Stone Age to the Iron Age.
